Even if you are contacting this person through a reputable online dating service, you should know and understand that it is not hard for the other person to use someone else’s photo and then lie about his actual identity.



Although a lot of the times this is not the case, there have been many times when this exact situation has occurred; you go to meet the person you thought was someone else, and rather than finding what you were expecting, you find something completely different.



There is also the danger factor, as the person you’re meeting could be lying about their identity and could be a criminal. The key here is to be safe, know what you are doing, and take the proper measures to protect yourself. Even if you are sure that the person is not lying at all about their identity, if you are planning to meet them in person, you should do so in a public place so that you do not have to feel uncomfortable, threatened or uneasy.

Terkejutkah mendengar pernyataan di atas? Memang itulah kenyataannya. Itulah kenyataan pahit yang harus ditelan oleh para investor dan pelaku bisnis maupun oportunitis yang mencoba dan mengkhayal "cepat kaya" melalui internet.

Banyaknya dotcom yang meledak di Indonesia di tahun 1999 dan kemudian "gulung tikar" tidak lama setelah itu, sebenarnya sudah diprediksi oleh apa yang pernah terjadi dahulu di Amerika serikat di tahun 1996-97. Ecommerce tanpa emarketing kenyataannya Itulah sebabnya mengapa beberapa tahun yang lalu perbincangan eCommerce banyak mewarnai banyak media, namun sekarang? Trend seperti ini hanyalah bagian dari apa yang disebut "survival for the fittest" dalam dunia bisnis karena kemunculan teknologi baru atau datangnya era baru. Jadi kejadian seperti ini sudah bukan barang baru. Setelah kejadian itu biasanya, orang-orang dapat lebih belajar dari kesalahan dan tidak takabur dalam membuat teoriteori yang salah (lihat kolom yg sama di warta ekonomi edisi sebelumnya).

Bila Anda akan mendirikan toko atau perusahaan, yang benar adalah Anda harus melakukan riset pasar dan memiliki analisa SWOT yang solid agar berhasil. Namun tidak demikian halnya dengan perusahaan atau individu yang ingin membuat situs web. Mereka berpikir bahwa dengan memiliki situs web yang indah dan cantik, maka akan banyak dikunjungi oleh pengunjung dan mereka akan membeli. Ternyata pil pahit yang terjadi adalah kebalikannya

Bahkan bisnis besar seperti carrefoure pun yang memakan banyak tempat secara fisik masih memerlukan promosi untuk menarik pembeli. Dan setiap kali ada barang bagus, mereka pun menggunakan spandukspanduk besar yang ditaruh di jalanja lan. Apalagi sekadar memiliki situs web! Di Internet, bisnis kecil bisa terlihat besar, begitu pula bisnis besar bisa terlihat kecil tergantung seberapa besar mindsharenya.

Hal lain juga sama terjadi di banyak perusahaan, situs web korporat tidak lain dan tidak bukan hanya sekadar brosuf pasif yang tidak atau sedikit dikunjungi dan tidak mampu menangkap prospek apalagi pelanggan.

Praktis situs web korporat tersebut tidak mampu mendatangkan baik "cold calls" apalagi “hot calls”. Siapa yang harus Bertanggungjawab?Orang TI? Webmaster? Orang marketingkah? Era internet mendatangkan paradigma baru sekaligus tantangan baru bagi para pebisnis dan pemasar. Mereka harus cepat belajar memaksimalkan kekuatan teknologi khususnya dalam hal ini internet untuk membangun brand yang kuat. Namun kenyataannya adalah bahwa para pemasar menyerahkan segala sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan situs web kepada orangorang TI. Dan orang TI yang mengomandani segala sesuatu berkenaan situs korporat. Dan orang pemasaran malah didikte oleh orang TI mengingat ketidaktahuan memaksimalkan kekuatan internet sebagai media promosi dan pembangun brand. Tentu saja target tidak akan sesuai dengan yang diharapkan.

Kalau orang TI tahu caracara bisnis dan pemasaran, tentu mereka sudah akan menjadi seorang pengusaha. Bukan hanya karena mereka mampu membuat situs korporat yang WAH dan menarik, otomatis mereka bisa menjual produk perusahaan lewat internet. Jangankan menjual produk lewat internet, menjual produk secara konvensional saja belum tentu bisa. Kalau mereka bisa, pasti mereka tidak akan meminta pekerjaan kepada orangorang bisnis, bukan?

Jadi orang-orang pemasaranlah yang harus bertanggung jawab dalam mengomandani visi dan misi mengapa harus membangun situs korporat dan bagaimana strategi pemasaran dan promosinya, bukan orangorang TI yang bertanggung jawab, Departemen TI hanya bertanggung jawab secara operasional saja.

Karena itu di era sekarang ini, orangorang bisnis dan pemasaran harus mengetahui ruang lingkup strategi pemasaran internet (emarketing). Mengapa Perlukah emarketing? Menurut Lennart Svanberg, Presiden dari World Association of Internet Marketers, semakin banyak perusahaan akan 'go internet', dan tidak akan ada perusahaan yg tidak 'go internet' bila mereka tidak ingin punah (walau ini bukan jaminan kalau mereka tidak mengetahui kekuatan dari strategi pemasaran di dunia online).

Ya Anda harus tahu tentang "Pemasaran Internet". Banyak perusahaan termasuk di Indonesia sebenarnya mampu dan memiliki budget untuk melakukan itu, namun sayang sekali mereka tidak kompeten untuk melakukan itu, namun mereka berupaya menjangkau dunia online dengan metode pemasaran tradisional. Pertimbangkan konsep pemasaran tradisional yaitu, Market Segmentation. Segmentasi Pasar "...suatu metode untuk mengenali sekelompok konsumen, di dalam suatu pasar yang lebih luas, yang memiliki karakteristik dan kebutuhan yang mirip."

Nah…., sekarang dengan meledaknya pertumbuhan internet, dunia bisa menjadi pasar kita yaitu, "sekelompok konsumen" yg dapat dijumpai secara online. Untuk dapat mengidentifikasi segmen pasar yg baru ini mengharuskan Anda mengenali dan mengimplementasi berbagai macam strategi dan teknik baru sebagai tambahan dari strategi pemasaran konvensional.

Apa itu Pemasaran Internet Bagaimana ini sebenarnya berbeda dengan konsep pemasaran tradisional? Beberapa di antaranya mencakup perencanaan strategi, analisa situasi, analisa kastemer, pengembangan pasar dan produk, positioning, juga 5P yg berbeda, penetapan harga, distribusi produk dan promosi online. Akan tetapi, banyak dari prinsip, teknik, dan taktik dari eMarketing berakar dari strategi pemasaran tradisional namun dengan implementasi yg berbeda. Di samping itu bertambahnya dimensi baru ini yang telah menyatu ke dalam khususnya online business landscape, itu adalah pemasaran pesanpesan iklan melalui Internet classified, promosi berbasis testimonial di situs Web, pemasaran melalui situs pencari, pemasaran dan pembelian berbasis pay per click, viral marketing, affiliate marketing, URL marketing, email marketing, online press releases, dsb.
